Is strite.com free as a brand?
See whether a name is free as a domain and as a username before you fall in love with it.
Looking up…
What a name needs to be yours.
- The domain: .com where you can, and the extension your market expects (.ai and .io in tech, a country extension at home).
- The usernames where your customers and developers look for you.
- The trademark: free domains and handles do not make a name safe to use. Search the registers where you trade.
How each part is checked.
Domains come live from each registry, the same way as the domain availability checker. Usernames and package names come from each platform's public API, as in the username checker.
Questions people ask.
How do I check if a brand name is available?
Check three things: the domain (at least .com and the extension you plan to use), the usernames on the platforms you will need, and the trademark registers where you will trade. This checker does the first two at once.
What if the .com is taken?
Look at the other extensions in the result, add a short word (get, try, hq), or see whether the .com is for sale. Many startups launch on .io, .ai or .co.
Does a free domain mean I can use the name?
No. Domains and usernames say nothing about trademarks. Search the trademark registers in your countries, or ask a lawyer, before you build a brand on a name.
Which platforms are checked?
GitHub, GitLab, Bluesky, Mastodon, Hugging Face, Hacker News and DEV accounts, and npm, PyPI and crates.io package names, through their public APIs. Instagram, X, TikTok and YouTube forbid automated lookups.
