History of sibase.dev.
See how long a name has had a website, when it went quiet, and whether it changed hands, before you buy it.
Looking up…
Where the history comes from.
The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has saved copies of public websites since 1996. Hivex asks it how often it captured the domain each month, and the registry when the current registration began. For .si names, Hivex adds its own record of when it saw the name free.
Reading it before you buy.
- A site archived long before the current registration date means the name lapsed and was taken again: open the old captures to see what it was used for.
- Long gaps usually mean the site was offline or parked.
- Check the name on the email blocklists too: a past owner's spam can follow a domain.
Questions people ask.
How can I see a domain's past websites?
The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has saved copies of most public sites. The checker shows when it first and last captured the domain and how often, and links to those copies.
How do I know if a domain had previous owners?
Compare the current registration date with the first archived website. If the site was archived years before the name was last registered, the name lapsed and someone registered it again.
Why does domain history matter before buying?
An earlier owner may have used the name for spam or something you would not want linked to your brand. Look at the old captures, and check the name against email blocklists.
What do gaps in the captures mean?
Months or years without captures usually mean the site was offline, parked, or asked the archive not to save it.
Is the history complete?
No. The archive captures what its crawlers and users save; small sites may have few captures, and some sites block archiving.
