Location and network come from Cloudflare's data for your address; you reached Hivex through its ORD data centre, 9 ms away. Nothing here is stored.

Whose address this is.
It is the public address your connection reaches the internet from: the one every site you open sees. At home it usually belongs to your router and is shared by every device on your network. On mobile data, and on some home lines, your provider shares one public address among many customers (carrier-grade NAT), so the address leads to the provider, not to you.
With a VPN or a privacy relay switched on, you see its exit address instead. That is the one sites see too.
How close the location is.
Location and network come from Cloudflare's data for the address. They place the address, not you: usually the area of your provider's equipment, which can be another town. The country is the steadiest part. An IP address alone never gives a street address.
IPv4, IPv6, and why it changes.
- IPv6 shows when your network and Hivex both speak it: browsers try both and prefer IPv6 when it works (Happy Eyeballs).
- Phones and laptops change their IPv6 address on their own, for privacy. A new temporary address is preferred for a day by default, so a different one tomorrow is normal.
- Most home lines get an address that can change when the router restarts. If you need one that stays, for remote access or an allowlist, ask your provider for a static address, then test what reaches you with the port checker.
Questions people ask.
What is my IP address?
It is the public address your internet provider gives your connection, shown at the top of this page. Every site you visit sees it. Inside your home or office, devices also have private addresses (such as 192.168.x.x) that the internet never sees.
Why does my IP location look wrong?
IP locations are estimates from network data, not GPS. They often show the city where your provider routes traffic, which can be far from you, and mobile networks and VPNs move it further.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.7 and are running out, so they are often shared. IPv6 addresses look like 2001:db8::7 and are plentiful. If you see an IPv6 address here, your provider and device support it.
Does Hivex store my IP address?
No. The page is built for your request and nothing on it is saved. Hivex counts visits with a hash that changes every day, never the address itself.
Hivex index
Short names, still free to register.
Starting something new? Hivex keeps a live index of short, brandable .si names nobody has claimed yet, each checked with the registry.
From code, or an AI assistant.
Hivex's free JSON API and MCP server check domains, DNS and registration records from your own code or from AI assistants that speak MCP. No key needed.
